Hiatus from Social Media

For a number of reasons, I am quitting Facebook, with the intent of doing more here, and more creative pursuits that are not “a flash of light” on someone’s screen and then gone. I have been on Facebook since 2008, and creating uncompensated content that might be of community service in the following areas: Cape Breton Invasive Plants, about the harms posed by invasive plant species to Cape Breton with recognition, discussion, and removal recommendations. Native Plant Gardening Nova Scotia, to enhance the ecological value of where we live (saving the world in your back yard is incredibly rewarding, and a very “do-able” action in the face of great changes facing us). Cape Breton Core, a site for photography and appreciation of our amazing island. Nova Scotia Quiet People who like Darkness too, an educational effort on what we lose when we tolerate the loss of darkness and quiet that we literally evolved to need. Finally, Cape Breton Naturalists, an educational effort on the natural history of the island.

It has been a great run, but the sudden loss of a very dear friend who was an artist leaves a hole that needs to be filled with…art. So I will be working on that, and having loving fun with my very dear husband, who is now 75.
